100 Days

“This is really a page right out of the textbook for tyrants. Historically what dictators and authoritarian regimes do, when their people turn against them, is to pit their own people against each other” ~Frank Figliuzzui, former Assistant Director for Counterintelligence at the FBI

100 Days

The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals Service, as well as agents believed to belong to a private mercenary security group run by former Navy Seal Eric Prince, (brother of Betsy Devos,) have deployed unidentifiable federal agents to Portland, Oregon. Their lack of training is painfully obvious as is their inability to diffuse any given situation. They have turned peaceful protests into a civil war, attacking crowds without provocation.

The US uprising was sparked in large part by the police murder caught on tape, of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. At that time the United Nations Human Rights Council debated launching a special investigation into racism in America. However, rather than a targeted investigation, they took a more diplomatic approach by launching a review of worldwide attacks against black people.

Regardless, human rights abuses perpetrated by Trump and his administration have not gone unnoticed. They are under review by an independent organization headquartered in Belgium, called the International Crisis Group.

“I was a federal agent for 25 years. When I led FBI offices, one of the things I had to make certain of that I wasn’t asking agents to do something that would put them in legal jeopardy, and take them outside the scope of their employment.” ~Frank Figliuzzi

While one federal judge denied an ACLU emergency injunction to stop Trump’s private army from using chemical weapons, which are prohibited from use in war by the Geneva Conventions, against demonstrators, another federal judge ruled that journalists and legal observers “shall not be required to disperse following the issuance of an order to disperse” during protests in Portland. The judge order also prohibits federal officers from seizing photo or video equipment from journalists or legal observers and prevents the feds from ordering photojournalists to stop taking photos or video.

Trump is aiming his occupying forces toward new targets. Other democratic cities, like Seattle, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, despite the widespread objections by local government leaders may find themselves under occupation next.

“My dad volunteered and served in World War II to fight fascism, like most of my uncles, so we would not have an American president brutalizing and kidnapping Americans for exercising their constitutional rights and trying to make America a better place, which is what patriots do. Anyone, including federal law enforcement, who unlawfully assaults and kidnaps people will face criminal charges from my office.” ~Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner

Trump has finally fulfilled a campaign promise. He has built a wall. A group of protesters wearing yellow, calling themselves the “Wall of Mom’s,” joined protesters this week, forming a barrier between federal police and protesters.

They were followed a day later by Portland’s “Fathers Against Fascism,” armed with leaf blowers that they used to effectively redirect tear gas back at the Federal officials. (Many have since been confiscated.)

There was a wall of nurses, a wall of teachers.

And finally, a wall of Veterans rounded out the protest.

Like the tear gas blown back in the faces of mercenary police, Trump’s show of force seems to have backfired. His determined efforts to bring us under authoritarian rule have inadvertently united the country that he’s been working so hard to divide. Nothing unites people more than a common enemy.

Election Day, November 3, 2020, is 100 days away. This is without question the most important election we will see in our lifetimes. We know this administration, and Republicans in Congress are planning to retain power uring unscrupulous methods. We know because they refused to pass bills that would secure our elections. We know because the voting machines they’ve purchased are hackable. We know because Trump has shouted out to China, to Russia, and to Ukraine, on camera, requests for their interference. We know because he is determined to stop mail-in ballots from becoming widely used, and he’s working to destroy, and privatize the USPS before ballots are delivered. The GOP is actually suing the state of Pennsylvania to block a safe vote by mail.

The GOP has recruited 50,000 ”poll watchers” for Election Day.

I’m here to appeal to those DHS agents today and say there will one day be a legal reckoning for what you are being asked to do. And you are compelled to stand by the rule of law and the constitution. You are operating outside the scope of your employment when you take people off the street, nowhere near federal buildings when you don’t tell them they’re under arrest, when you don’t tell them your name and your agency, and when you release them because you know you have no probable cause to arrest them. There will be a reckoning. You need to get your professional liability insurance paid up.” ~Frank Figliuzzi

To offset cheating we need every voter to show up. Biden must win by a wide enough margin that Trump has no choice but to accept the results. I urge anyone who is able to volunteer to work at the polls on Election Day to follow the link below. Be a part of the election process and report any irregularities.

  1. Have you seen the Beau of the Fifth column youtube videos today? They are important.

    In my opinion:
The very best thing that people can do is go home, refuse to come back out and NOT SPEND ANY MONEY!!! This is what the Difficult Toddler fears the absolute most. If we all minimize spending, which is logical given both the pandemic and civil unrest, plus the Republican botched attempts to help people financially afflicted by the pandemic, then change will happen in November. He’s trying to bait people to prevent the election (actually I strongly suspect that both Fox and Sinclair are using inflammatory reporting by whatever set of goons is controlling the Delirium Tremens. Since he doesn’t fact check it is extremely easy to manipulate him)

    1. I had never heard of Beau of the Fifth, so I just watched the two videos he filmed today. That is a lot to think about.

First, let me say I agree with you that we all need to stop spending money. Most people already have out of necessity. Unemployment and reduced wages are real. But those who aren’t financially affected by C-19 should put their money away.

As far as the idea that we are heading toward something we’ll regret, I don’t know that we have a choice if we want to keep our democracy.

We are being played, I know that. This violence is a diversion from the 20 American soldiers killed in Afghanistan since Putin put bounties on our troops. Trump is also trying to make us forget his failed handling of the pandemic.

Divide and conquer is one of Putin’s games, and Trump speaks to him regularly, to get his orders. The goal is for us to destroy ourselves. Putin must be enjoying himself right now because we are.
I’ve never considered not protesting as an option. It sounds so simple, but it isn’t. If we did that Trump would take it as a victory. His support might rise because most people won’t understand why the demonstrations stopped. He’d take credit for ending the chaos he created.

I see the escalation of violence, but I also see the inclusion of people from all walks of life as a statement that we are unified and will not allow Trump to make this an authoritarian country.
I think we need to keep showing up, but make sure that we do nothing to escalate the violence, no destruction of property, no graffiti or fire, and no taunting the Gestapo. We are so close to the election, and his behavior toward protesters is hurting his numbers.

One more thing and I don’t mean any disrespect at all, but I think about the Jews killed in concentration camps. They outnumbered their captors but cooperated until the end, and they were still all murdered.
If we do nothing Trump won’t stop.

The election itself terrifies me. Propaganda is in full swing, still, I believe Trump will lose, but he won’t leave office without a fight, and there is too much time between Election Day and inauguration day.
