I admit I was pessimistic. I believed we were beyond hope and have been proven spectacularly wrong. So sure of disappointment, I found myself unprepared, lacking the celebratory champagne I’d stored on ice for so many years on so many occasions, but never uncorked. It was consumed last Christmas but never replaced.
Despite all the redistricting, all of Elon Musk’s (purloined from taxpayer-funded grants) money, and all of Trump’s attempts to take election control from states (foiled by federal judges), Democrats have won Congress.
What is Best About the Blue Wave:
Democrats, holding 54 confirmed seats in the Senate (possibly 55), garnered enough wiggle room to render Trojan Horses such as Joe Manchin (retired), Kyrsten Sinema (who took her money and left), and John Fetterman insignificant.

- Representative Lauren Boebert
- Speaker of the House Mike Johnson says he won’t run for minority leader. Hmm… good.
Question of the year… Will Trump run to escape consequences, perhaps to Russia?
Since this is like Christmas morning, I’m going to share my wish list in no particular order:
- Abolish the Electoral College
- Add four Justices to the Supreme Court.
- Tax the rich! (Retroactively- my list, my choice.)
- Make Musk return taxpayer funded grants.
- Restore reproductive rights.
- Reverse every cut made by DOGE, and investigate all the dorks.
- End the Trump wars.
- Release the Epstein Files, unredacted except to protect the victim’s identity. Arrest the child molesters.
- Recover money embezzled by Trump and his family.
- Return supplemental food assistance and Medicaid to its rightful owners.
- Support Ukraine and get out of bed with Russia.
- Stop funding Israel’s brutality.
- Provide universal healthcare.
- End Ice and prosecute those who abused their power while hiding behind masks.
- Hose down, sanitize and restore the White House.
- Shut down AI data centers.
- End Tariffs.
