Tangled up in Blue— Foreboding — a limerick

No political pontification

Today, only alienation…

I feel excluded

Not yet invited?

To escape, or is it vacation?

I read this statistic yesterday:

The U.S. State Department has reported a 47% increase in the number of US passports issued in 2019, bringing the yearly total to 20,690,491.

Where is everyone going?

Is this spike a contingency plan in the event that the 2020 election results mirror those of 2016?

Please note the exit nearest you.

  1. damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Who’s going anywhere with the coronavirus hanging over our heads? And he says the stock market is going good? Somebody get me the heck outta here!

  2. More likely people are seeking passports because some states’ driver’s licenses are no longer accepted as proof of identity at TSA checkpoints. Many of us just travel within the U.S.

  3. Mine expired and I needed a new one so I got it. Need one today for Canada and Mexico (I remember a time a current US driver’s License worked…that is how old I am). With all the border turmoil getting back in can be complicated … valid current passport essential …otherwise you get a cage.
