E-30 Days Left to Vote

“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.” ~ Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsberg

That was the dying wish of perhaps the most highly respected Supreme Court Justice in history, Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Did that matter to the GOP? No. Before she was so much as buried, they began the process necessary to best use her death to their advantage.

Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, ignored his own rule, created in order to block President Obama’s selection of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court in 2016. His argument was that voters should have a say in the selection of a Supreme Court Justice, and for that reason, a president can not choose to fill a vacancy during their last year in office. That argument was made when President Obama had 11 months left in office.

Now, with less than a month before this 2020 election, when people have already begun voting in record numbers, Senator McConnell (WTF Kentucky?) is pretending that rule never happened. He is desperately trying to fill Ginsberg’s seat before next month’s vote on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, with a judge who has made clear that given a vote she would end the ACA.

Republicans have seen the writing on the wall. The writing says this is the end of their majority, and may well be their last chance to stack the Supreme Court- in their lifetimes.

Despite cries of foul play, Mitch McConnell has soldiered on. He doesn’t care whether or not you know of his disregard for fairness or his lack of morality.

One week ago, on Saturday, a White House event was held in honor of the GOP’s religious extremist, anti-feminist, SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett.

No social distancing and few masks were worn, which is normal behavior for this arrogant group. They don’t believe in science, because it is inconvenient to do so, and they also believe they are immune to this “flu-like” pandemic, thanks to their genetic superiority, despite the fatalities of more than 220,000 Americans. Immediately after this celebratory meeting, the Senate GOP moved indoors to hold their regular in-person meetings…

…and three days later, one by one they start falling ill. It turns out it was a COVID-19 super-spreading day. Despite my disinclination to believe White House news, it appears GOP flies are dropping off the walls.

Karma is real.

The following people who attended the event have tested positive, so far: Hope Hicks, POTUS, and FLOTUS, (Dollhands and Melanie,) Trump’s campaign manager, Bill Stepien, Trump’s personal assistant, Nick Luna, Bowling-Green survivor Kellyanne Conway, Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Notre Dame President John Jenkins, 11 staffers from the debate, three White House journalists who covered the event, Republican Senators Mike Lee of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, (who both serve on the Judiciary Committee,) and Republican Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. The announcements keep coming. Many of those listed continued with their scheduled events after they were diagnosed, showing their lack of consideration for the well being of others, including their donors.

Attorney General, and criminal enabler, Bill Barr is pictured at the event speaking to Kellyanne Conway in proximity so close that you can almost see the spray of infectious droplets exchanged between them. Barr has not tested positive, (yet,) and does not intend to isolate himself. Nice.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s last wish may come to pass after all because it is looking like there will not be enough healthy Repugnicans to confirm Barrett.

Perpetually concerned and dismayed Senator Susan Collins of Maine and occasionally fair Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have indicated they will vote “no” if the confirmation vote happens before the election and “might vote against a nominee in a lame-duck session as well.” (Huh?)

The GOP Senate leads with a 53-47 majority. With three sick, (so far,) and two who defected, the Handmaiden/SCOTUS nominee may not have the numbers she needs for her nomination to be confirmed.

I have some unanswered questions. Did Mitch McConnell attend the super spreader event? Senator Lindsey Graham continues to reiterate McConnel’s vow to go forward with the process of confirming a SCOTUS, and suggested the possibility of ”virtual hearings,” as a way to include the senators who behaved recklessly and are now in quarantine. Was he there?

Donald Trump has been hospitalized, (we are told,) and his team of doctors is said to be the best in the world. Taxpayers are paying for his care, despite the fact that he pays less in annual taxes than most high school students who work part-time, meanwhile, his nominee to be the next Supreme Court Justice is expected to end healthcare for 23 million taxpayers.

Irony isn’t the right word; it is obscene. These people whose reckless behavior endangered so many people are fighting to strip us of our healthcare, while they use healthcare funded by us, to treat an illness their arrogance brought on.

Oh, boy. Look at the results of a new NBC/WSJ national poll:

Biden 53%

Trump 39%

Biden is up by 14%.

Don’t be complacent – VOTE.

Never fear, the White House will update their false reports on Trump’s condition daily.

  1. I’m sure they are in such a tizzy (these ‘BEST’ doctors) that they don’t even know how to count days and hours. Or keep their story (such as it is) straight. I don’t think we will ever know the truth about this.
