Will Trump Ever Go Away?

I’m sooo tired of writing about this. If anyone is still reading my posts please accept my apologies. I believe there is a medical disorder associated with my ennui. (That’s French) It has yet to be named, so I’ll call it “Depressident.” No, I’m not a doctor, but I google webmd frequently. The symptoms are all French words, and they sound so romantic, but they’re not. Today’s infirmity was caused by a couple of news articles, and because I know my readers don’t like to read I’ll offer a summary.

According to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey, President Trump’s approval rating has sunk to a new low. Only 32% approve of the job Trump is doing.

The Washington Post claims Trump is on track to win re-election.

Wait, both can’t be true…but they are.

With the perfect storm of—

  • the electoral college,
  • at least one strong independent on the ballot, like Russia’s little sweetheart Jill Stein,
  • Russia’s relentless attacks on social media,
  • Russia’s hacking into our voting system,

We are screwed… Oh, I almost forgot *gerrymandering is alive and well, but that’s more of a gift for the Republicans in the House of Representatives. *the manipulation of boundaries in an electoral constituency so as to favor one party or class.

I don’t really see the point in holding elections.
Save the money we would normally spend on elections and let Pence continue to use tax payer dollars to fly the wifey to football games, only for the national anthem, and then fly back to DC.

Russia is still in our business, what is being done to stop them? Isn’t Trump supposed to be working on a cyber security system with Putin?

The evidence Russians hacked into voting systems of 21 states seems to have been ignored. The DHS has concluded—

“The good news is that, for the most part, most of the things that we saw attempted in 2016 were just that, attempts. There was nothing that impacted the voting tallies, as we said before, and for the most part, these attempts were not successful in any intrusions into systems.” ~ Bob Kolasky, acting deputy undersecretary for DHS’s National Protection and Programs Directorate

That’s the good news. What is the bad news? Trump is POTUS 45. And did you catch what he said? He said “for the most part these attempts were not successful.” That isn’t reassuring me. Is it only an alarming coincidence that the typically accurate exit polls did not match actual vote counts in many of those hacked states? Hillary Clinton won according to exit polls.

Why aren’t more people suffering from “Depressident?”

The following are my four proposals, and in order to be effective each must be accomplished in order.

  1. Indict Trump, his spawn, and his cohorts.
  2. Americans stop being stupid, just stop it.
  3. Abolish the electoral college.
  4. Go to hand counted (not by Russians) paper ballots.
  5. Make gerrymandering illegal.

We have to do this now, because if we wait “Depressident” will be a pre-existing condition, then we’re all screwed.

  1. The answer is .. “NO, Trump will never go away.” He will live in his self-created “poor me” drama land and spend the rest of his days “fighting” against the multitudes who have wronged him. Which now includes the entire USA. The good thing is that it will be from afar and not in our faces!

Re: “We have to do this now, because if we wait “Depressident” will be a pre-existing condition, then we’re all screwed.” This is a brilliant line! That you’re still able see, feel and express the humor, right alongside with the angst, is quite wonderful! 🙂

  2. Interestingly enough I am starting to read more reports on Trump resigning from office before his term expires. The case for this seems to be getting stronger. He probably has a gut feel that the longer he stays in office, especially with a Democrat majority after 2018 elections that can force the publication of his tax returns, the more likely he is to be impeached – very similar to the Nixon scenario – so he will probably eject sooner rather than later:

  3. I listened to Van Jones publicizing his new book–it sounds like it will be worth reading–talking about trump possibly winning another term and being succeeded by Ivanka IF democrats can’t get their collective shit together.
