The only way to remove a U.S. Supreme Court Justice is impeachment. Now it is public knowledge that Clarence Thomas has taken bribery for decades. His refusal to recuse himself from cases involving the 1/6 attack on the Capitol, despite his wife’s role in planning for that attack, has been noticed. Much of the country wants him out.
Today, news of another crime by Thomas. He claimed up to $750k from a defunct real estate firm. Is it tax fraud, or is he laundering money? The public says, “impeach him!” So, what are we waiting for?
Clarence Thomas claimed up to $750k from defunct real estate firm: report
A senate vote is all it takes. It sounds simple, right? The Democrats have a majority, 51/49. The problem is: Impeachment requires a 2/3 Senate vote. Even if it was a simple majority vote, 51, The Democrat’s numbers are not what they appear to be.
Senator Kyrstin Sinema, was never really a democrat. She sold her soul and vote along with it almost immediately after taking her oath of office. Now she has declared herself an independent. That brings us to 50/49+1.
Kyrsten Sinema is now an independent. What does that mean for the Senate?
West Virginia’s Joe Manchin (who sits with Republicans.) Manchin is all about money. He wants his coal revenue to keep paying out, so he votes in favor of fossil fuel. He’s also on the side of big-pharma daughter’s profits. There is more. He votes for the wealthy.
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was out during a mental health crisis, but has returned to work. I am glad he’s better.
Senator Dianne Feinstein, the oldest member of congress at age 89, has been out with shingles for two months. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, her absence has prevented President Biden from appointing judges. Five days ago, she agreed to temporarily step down from that roll, but republicans are preventing it.

Ms. Feinstein also suffers from acute short-term memory issues. She’s 89. Did she forget to retire? I am a progressive democrat, a liberal, a member of Antifa, and a woman appalled by the recent setbacks in our equality. Call me what you will. I know who I am. I’ve been called sexist for picking on Diane Feinstein. We need her vote; she has missed over 60 during this illness. What the Hell is she holding on for? Tap out, woman!
Feinstein requests Judiciary Committee replacement amid health absence
Of the 51 Democrats who were elected in November, the real number has been more like 47. Now that the GOP has the House majority, we are worse off than before the 2022 election. Absences have rendered the Senate useless.
It’s not just Democrats who are out. Kentucky’s Senate Minority leader (Republican) Mitch McConnell is 81 and has been absent for over a month after falling down stairs. I’d be happy for him to continue squatting at home until rigor mortis sets in. That is not because he’s a man, but because he’s a horrible person and a Republican.
I’m sure others are out sick, but that isn’t the point of this post. What is? There are not enough votes to impeach Clarence Thomas. We need seventy-five senate votes. The end. We must demand term limits.

Clarence Thomas Must Step Down
Another comment I read is, “he must resign.” That will never happen. He would need integrity to step down. If he had any wouldn’t be in this position. He knows he is untouchable.

The U.S. Supreme Court is the one branch of government that is not elected by voters. These people have lifetime appointments and no accountability. Laws do not apply to them. What could go wrong? Clarence Thomas is the poster child for “what could go wrong?” The SCOTUS, set up for corruption.

Brett Kavanaugh was in deep trouble before confirmed to the Supreme Court. He had 83 ethics complaints against him. They were all dismissed the day he was sworn in.
Federal Panel Of Judges Dismisses All 83 Ethics Complaints Against Brett Kavanaugh
Am I wrong (don’t answer) to be angry that six of the nine Justices were seated by presidents who lost the popular vote?
- Clarence Thomas: Nominating president, George H. W. Bush, won the popular vote. Ironically, Thomas was the deciding vote in 2000, ordering the recount of votes in Florida be stopped, which gave the son, George W Bush (the loser) the presidency.
- Samuel A. Alito, Jr.: Nominating president, G.W. Bush, lost the popular vote (in 2000); won the popular vote in 2004, before nominating Roberts
- John G. Roberts: Nominating president, G.W. Bush, lost the popular vote (in 2000); won the popular vote in 2004. Alito is the Judge who ended Roe v Wade.
- Neil M. Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett: all seated by a twice impeached, indicted POTUS, who lost the popular vote by millions.
Pack the Courts
The other option is to make Thomas insignificant by adding more Supreme Court Justices. Hello Dianne! It can be done. Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution gives Congress the authority to change the size of the Supreme Court. It has been done seven times in our history. Nothing will proceed on this front until we have a majority that can withstand the likes of Feinstein and Sinema and Manchin.
The Supreme Court Doesn’t Need 9 Justices. It Needs 27
Chief Justice Roberts Must Force Thomas to Resign
In theory, Chief Justice Roberts could pressure Thomas to resign. That’s not happening because both, along with the others listed above, are owned by Federalist Society. They are untouchable.
No closing joke today, but I want to share a quote and dedicate it to John Fetterman. I suffer from depression and understand how debilitating it can be.
“Sometimes someone isn’t ready to see the bright side. Sometimes they need to sit with the shadow first. So be a friend and sit with them. Make the darkness beautiful.”
~Victoria Erickson
This was a good read.
This is what I love in your post
Thank you for bringing attention to the issue of potential corruption in the Supreme Court and the need for accountability through term limits and changes to the court’s size.

The Supreme Court has no code of ethics. Like they were telling us something we didn’t know. But still, they hold the office for life with no ethic guidelines? What kind of gig is that?!

And I love that Thomas is playing dumb- “he was told he needn’t disclose trips paid by the GOP donor.” He’s a SCOTUS! He knew.

I don’t remember where I read it, but someone said Thomas should provide the name of every person in and out of gov’t who ever gave him advice on not needing to disclose trips paid by GOP donors. They knew he would be unable to provide any names because no one would ever have told him that.

He needs to be questioned, publicly. I doubt this phases him at all. He and his ditzy wife are probably guzzling a bottle of wine (worth more than my car) and laughing about the invisible shield they have that protects them from consequences.

I Think Clarence Thomas Is a member of Occul

I had to google that. The only thing I found for occul was the “Oceania Confederation of Credit Union League.” Based on that, I’m guessing you meant “Occult.” Correct me if I’m wrong.
You could be right; I wouldn’t be surprised by anything regarding Mr. & Mrs. Thomas. Her behavior is odd, his hostile. Both are indifferent, as if rules of mere mortals don’t apply to them. They appear unfazed that their decades of financial escapades have been uncovered.
There appear to be quite a few secret societies for the well connected politician. I believe many of the SCOTUS belong to the Federalist Society. From what I understand they have a public front as well as an underground membership.
There is so much corruption in our political system. Money is behind it all. Why can’t the IRS step in?
