Consider

Can

We all

just stay

where we are?

Must we constantly

be in plane, train, or car?

Why not content to vacation

In our current locations—Consider

Wherever we go… there we are

Use a web cam, ride a bike

Live somewhere that we like

Live near loved ones

Stop chasing the sun

Somehow find a way

To be happy and stay

Right where we are

Leave the gas in the car

One more thing…

Can we stop shopping on holidays?

Those underpaid employees have families too.

Think Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol”.

*Disclaimer: I say we, I mean you.

  1. I’ve often thought of this when I was on a busy freeway or in an airline terminal–everyone rushing to go where everyone else has just come from. Why this need to be elsewhere?

      1. And this is also how I learned Spanish. We put tapes int he car and whenever we drove, we listened to them. Prior to that, we’d listened to audiobooks which I still listen to when I can. Unfortunately, I dropped my Kindle into the pool and my audiobooks won’t play on my new computer. Probably because my old computer is still listed as my device. Must see to this.

  2. I see it as a whole big world, waiting to be explored. I have been watching a show on Netflix called departures. Two guys in their twenties travel the world with a camera for two years. I get to see parts of the world that would not be accessible for me. Staying in is fun.

  3. Hi. Is your blog still going? I’m doing blogging101 and for a task we had to write a blog on a daily prompt, then find someone else’s blog on the same prompt and leave a comment. I like your post as it is unusual and also makes you think about whether we need to travel at all.
