Party of One

Would a rain storm be enough keep me in bed
With the endless to-do list that swirls in my head
To put the list on the back burner
So I could read a page turner
I would have to wake up and be dead

A blinding blizzard might be another story
Because driving in snow – it fills me with worry
My car gets no traction
I’ve seen spinning action
I imagine myself deceased in a heap that is gory

As such, if I were truly snowed in—just me
In that my teens would never allow this type of party
I’d watch my BBC
Pride and Prejudice DVD
And wash cupcakes down with sweetened blackcurrant tea
