If I were six for a day…
I would eat cookie dough
and dream about being
Seven
With long bangs
And front teeth
I would chortle
At five year olds
Who drink milk
And take naps
During their
Half-day kindergarten
Those babies
If I were six for a day…

Ha. You really regressed and remembered what it was like to be six! Did you do the illustration? I love it. If you did do it, you should be a children’s book illustrator! http://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/09/29/black-hills-reverie/
Thank you Judy! My daughters are very talented. Emma did the feet in elementary school, Zoe did the portrait in middle school. I just put the two together. The portrait is a good likeness of them when they were little. Now they’re teenagers.
Each is wonderful and the two combined are fabulous! So glad you kept them. I was serious. I would love to have one of my books illustrated in this style!
Must comment again. A friend and I once went through the alphabet picking a name for each letter that we would choose as a name for ourselves. Emma and Zoe were both on my list! Some day I’m going to do a post on the name Lydia. I found a perfect illustration when I was in the Libertad Market in Guadalajara. Won’t say more, but I’ll dedicate it to you and my mother, whose middle name was Lydia.
I look forward to it Judy!
