It’s been some time since I last posted, so I thought I’d check in to confirm that we are still living in a country effectively forfeited to bad actors. Pardon my catastrophism, but George Washington once said “we are the last great experiment for promoting human happiness.” The experiment has failed.
“I’m not happy, Bob.” ~Gilbert Huff, The Incredibles
- Our soldiers are dying needlessly, because Trump inserted us into conflicts that would have been avoided with any other president. Why? To distract from the Epstein files. The deaths of several soldiers who died during an Iranian missile strike are not being acknowledged because, according to Trump, the deaths happened after he declared a ceasefire. He’s trying to minimize the reported casualties to influence public perception.
- Israel (with our money) and Russia (with our blessing) continue to commit war crimes.
- We still allow ICE to murder indiscriminately.
- Mitch McConnell is calling the shots from beyond the grave. Mark your calendars; on August 3rd, his death will be announced. This delay will prevent Governor Beshear from appointing McConnell’s replacement. It seems like this is election fraud. Am I wrong?

- Trump is using his entire bag of tricks, not trying to win voters over; he’s working to disenfranchise Democrats.
- The cost of living has left me asking, what is disposable income? Anyone?
- Big Brother is watching and helping companies tailor prices you pay. Businesses use automated algorithms to analyze your personal data, including your shopping history, loyalty app activity, and your location, to determine what you’ll be charged. This is “surveillance pricing,” and it means they could charge you more for the same product than the person checking out right behind you.
- Thanks to the Trumpification of the FDA, food safety oversight is compromised. We are paying higher prices for potentially contaminated groceries. Some fruits and vegetables are contaminated with parasites that cause diarrhea illness. Those pricey eggs people used as their single issue to vote for Trump now come with salmonella. And U.S. beef has screw worm.
- Also under the FDA, prescription drugs are being recalled because they are the wrong medication. Not to worry; Trump says he’s ending Medicare Part D, prescription drug coverage. You can’t get the incorrect medication if you can’t afford to buy any medication.
- Health insurance premiums have been on the rise at an unsustainable rate. Arguing with insurance companies to cover a medical procedure or a drug your doctor ordered has become a regular occurrence. More often now they deny coverage.

Okay, yes. Everything sucks. Now let me find good news…
- Both chambers of Congress passed resolutions mandating that Trump obtain congressional approval before proceeding with military action against Iran, although the measure is symbolic and lacks legal binding power. He does what he wants regardless of the law, but… never mind.
- Here’s a prescription drug tip: check prices on Cost Plus Drugs. It’s Mark Cuban’s company, and it just saved me $90 on one prescription without using insurance. They don’t carry every medication, but the ones they have are dramatically cheaper.
One more, one more, hmm…

- New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani currently leads prediction-market odds to be named TIME’s 2026 Person of the Year, ahead of Pope Leo XIV and Trump!
That’s all for today. I promise I’ll try to post more often. Find something to be happy about today, because…
