Presidents: Good vs. Evil, Bravery vs. Cowardice

One year ago today, Putin waged an unprovoked (“3-day special military operation” 🙄) war against Ukraine. That is how long he said it would take to conquer Kyiv.

Putin, not of sound mind, assumed his control over Donald Trump meant he was strong. Ukraine has taught him otherwise, proving to be a formidable opponent. Putin’s regime will not survive this war.

Biden and Zelenskyy 02/2023

President Biden spent this past Monday, Presidents’ Day, in Kyiv, with Ukraine President Zelenskyy. It was a show of solidarity and meant to send a message to Putin. The US and all NATO allies have provided untold military assistance. It is money well spent.

Why do we care what happens in Ukraine?

By supporting Ukraine, Putin’s first stop, we are preventing escalation. He wants to reestablish the former Soviet Union – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, will be next. Then he will move on to Poland and beyond.

Credit for this quote is often given to Churchill.

I once considered the above quote profound, an unfavorable image of our ignorance. It was a metaphorical glimpse in the mirror that begged the question, “do these jeans make my ass look fat?” No; your ass makes your ass look fat. It’s not the jeans, and it’s not the mirror. Yearning for a brighter society is as pointless as wishing jeans would give us a better ass. Let’s say we were smarter, and had a better ass; it would change nothing.

Georg Hegel is considered the greatest systematic thinker in the history of Western philosophy — perhaps a bit cynical.
(19th century)

We are apathetic, mediocre students of history. To be fair, how can we remember a past when we were never offered an accurate account? To learn U.S. account, we would need to search through textbooks in foreign lands. As republicans continue to teach us, a group of rich white men who own politicians control our education. We study what they have approved.

Limit access to education and you control the minds of the masses. A society kept uninformed, is easier to manipulate. The media plays a part in this process, repeating what they’re told rather than what they investigate.

Closed minds do not read. Propaganda has proven to be more successful than our general ignorance of history. It will prevail with or without those volumes removed from classroom shelves.

Few students will remember history, but it is already a whitewashed version. Do any textbooks detail the genocide of indigenous Americans? We are taught myths of pilgrims and Indians, without mention of 17th Century European settlers bringing smallpox to North America, no footnote of stolen land and genocide. Columbus Day is still a holiday even though he never set foot in North America. Juneteenth was never taught.

For that reason, the GOP is wasting its resources on efforts to ban books. Those determined to learn will find a way. DeSantis cannot outlaw the internet, but he doesn’t need to.

What percentage will take the time to fact-check textbooks? Efforts to eliminate “critical race theory” are as pointless as banning The Diary of Anne Frank.

Eddo Verdoner, the Netherlands’ National Coordinator on Combating Antisemitism, said in a statement it was “shocking to see that 23% of Millennials and Gen Z believe the Holocaust is either a myth or has been exaggerated.”

To the victor go the spoils, and the victor’s most coveted plunder is control of the narrative. What written in the history books is the account of the winning side.

Ukraine aid support softens in the US: AP-NORC Poll

As far as our interests in Ukraine, it is in our best interests to contain Putin now. It is important for our enemies to see us in solidarity with Ukraine. Who are our enemies?

  • North Korea, Trump’s lover
  • Saudi Arabia, Jared Kushner’s sugar daddy
  • China, Ivanka’s Trademark dispensary.

Putin put Trump in the White House. Trump’s deregulation of the Environmental Protection Agency is the reason toxins have poisoned Ohio. But payoffs were made and executives have seen higher profits.

Despite Trump’s sabotage and the greed and subterfuge of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, the EPA has taken charge of the cleanup of the East Palestine train derailment and chemical disaster, and ordered Norfolk Southern to foot the bill.

There is a fine line between stupid and clever.

For this all to make sense you must have a basic knowledge of US history. I know this is boring, so I’ll insert emojis, car crashes, and nudity along the way. Pay attention:

Under threat of impeachment, 😱 Republican President Richard Nixon resigned in August 1974. He would have been impeached, convicted, and removed from office for an attempt to cover up a conspiracy: spying on his political opponents. Child’s play compared to Trump’s crimes. The difference is that Republicans at that time honored their oaths of office. #MoscowMitch

Frank Wills, a security guard, discovered clues that former FBI and CIA agents broke into the offices of the Democratic Party (in the Watergate Hotel.)

Break for nudity, as promised:

Fun fact: Ants don’t catch Covid because they have these teeny little anty bodies.

Nixon’s Vice President, Spiro Agnew, resigned in October of 1973. In exchange for dropping charges of political corruption he pleaded no contest to federal income tax evasion. He was fined $10,000, sentenced to three years probation, and disbarred by the Maryland court of appeals.

In December of 1973, Gerald Ford was sworn in as Vice President.

President Nixon’s resignation in August 1974, meant the Vice President, Ford, became the only President never elected.

Ford lost in the 1976 election to Jimmy Carter, who won by 297 electoral votes to 241 for Ford. Carter focused his efforts on working people, the economy, inflation, and unemployment.

Carter’s words regarding Russia’s appointment of Trump in 2016 and the illegitimacy of his presidency:

“There’s no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the elections and I think the interference, although not yet quantified, if fully investigated would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016. He lost the election and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf,”

President Jimmy Carter

President Jimmy Carter is what most Christians pretend to be. He’s in the news this week because at age 98 his health is failing. His wife, one of our former First Ladies, is at 95 in good health. They have been married 77 years.

Snap. 🫰

Jimmy and Rosalynn married in 1946.

Since 1984 they have worked hands on, building houses through the “Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project,” an annual home building blitz organized by Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates. He has been photographed in action as recently as 2019 at the age of 95, when the Carter Work Project headed to Tennessee.

President and Mrs. Carter worked alongside future homeowners and volunteers to build 21 homes in Nashville.

On inequality among the sexes:

“The truth is that male religious leaders have had – and still have – an option to interpret holy teachings either to exalt or subjugate women. They have, for their own selfish ends, overwhelmingly chosen the latter. Their continuing choice provides the foundation or justification for much of the pervasive persecution and abuse of women throughout the world.”

On an airplane:

Reagan was against stem-cell research, but his wife, Nancy, tried to reverse that policy when his Alzheimer’s disease was diagnosed.

Jimmy Carter was a one term president who lost to Ronald Reagan. The charismatic actor, Reagan, destroyed the American dream. Hard work no longer meant a living wage. He busted unions and gave us trickle down economics. His allegiance was to the rich, for whom he reduced taxes from 70% to 28%. Loopholes in the system allow many to pay nothing. Reagan gave us socialism for the rich.

“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.” ~ Napoleon Bonaparte

Putin continues his futile war in Ukraine, destroying people, his economy, and Ukraine’s historic buildings. Make no mistake, the U.S. has been at war with Russia as well. Their election interference was an act of war. The Kremlin has been at work plotting our demise since the Cold War. Putin’s goal was to destroy us from within, and he has succeeded. President Biden, in just two years, has reversed much of the damage. We will recover, as will Ukraine. The division among us may take a generation to heal, but we will.

This counts as the car crash I promised.

Compare what you just read about Nixon to Trump. He has been and continues to be protected by the Republican Party. They are complicit, compromised, and funded by Russian mobsters. Trump was impeached (twice) by a democratic majority in the House and acquitted by a GOP majority Senate (twice.) Guilty, but not removed; allowed to continue hacking away at our democracy and run for office again. This shows how successful Putin has been in his manipulation of our freedom.

  1. If we’re lucky, Kamalla Harris will be our next president. And if we’re not lucky, she will be our next president. She’s our natural sneek-in. She’s the only one who can and will win the presidency without lifting a finger. I swear, once she’s in office, she’ll successfully rule the country without lifting a finger. She’s not only a natural sneek-in, she’s a natural, period. She’s literally laughing her way into the oval office. Her pathway there is strewn with dead bodies through absolutely no fault of her own…

    1. I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic, which is weird because sarcasm is my first language.
The thing is, Biden is on fire. (my opinion) He’s doing so much right now, he would overshadow anyone. He’s handing the GOP their asses on a daily basis. Kamala’s not getting any attention that I can see. Maybe it’s the media, or perhaps it’s the nature of the job. It is normal for the VP to get the nomination. I’d be happy with Kamala.

      1. She’s been stacking up resources without anybody noticing. Not necessarily money. But videos ~ ~ which I have yet to explore. I’m looking forward to doing so, now that I have discovered this treasure trove of campaign construction material… Plus, I think she has an endless supply of first-string, second-string, and third-string cousins, who will ride roughshod over your darlins in the GOP when messed-with…
