Yesterday was another binge day for political news junkies. Impeachment hearings continued, and during opening statements, the Inspector General published his 400-page report concluding the FBI did not act improperly or show any bias in its investigation into Russian meddling. The report ends tRump and Barr’s conspiracy theory that Christopher Steele, who compiled a dossier listing tRump’s possible illegal behavior, played a role in opening the investigation. Or it should.
According to FBI Director Chris Wray: “the inspector general did not find political bias or improper motivations impacting the opening of Russia probe, or the decision to use certain investigative tools.” He added, including FISA.
To be clear, the IG report repudiates tRump’s cries of “coup” and “deep state” conspiracy against him by the FBI.
In response to the report, AG Barr, as he is wont to do, made a statement claiming the report found the opposite:
“The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken.”
Trump commented incoherently, as he is wont to do: “What they were doing and what they would have done if I didn’t make a certain move, a certain move that was a very important move because it would have been even worse if that’s possible, and it might have been able to succeed.”
Random Congressional accomplices lined up to forward Trump and Barr’s misinterpretation the report by tweeting what can only be called bullshit:

The report exonerates Lisa Page, Peter Strzok, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, etc., and they all deserve apologies but don’t hold your breath.
Speaking of the Steele dossier, we learned that Christopher Steele and Ivanka Trump were “personal friends” in 2007, and Donny-two-scoops offered Steele a job sometime around 2010. This dispels another conspiracy theory that Steele was biased against tRump. Steele said that if anything, his relationship with Ivanka would have helped tRump.
Moving on.

Today, while the House Judiciary Committee forwards two articles of impeachment, abuse of power, and obstruction of congress, tRump will conduct his second Oval Office meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Like last time, the (American) press will be excluded. Lavrov has publicly joked about Russia interfering in US elections and laughed about tRump turning his back on the Kurds.

I hope they have something lined up for him, like an indictment. He committed perjury and obstructed several investigations.
