Jeff Sessions is not a good liar, and now it appears he is trying to swallow his head.
When Al Franken asked him: “If there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign what would you do?”
Sessions blurted: “I have not had communications with the Russians.” That wasn’t what he was asked, but okay.
That statement given under oath is on record.
When faced with proof that he did in fact meet with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, Sessions panicked. He claimed he should have slowed down, he meant something else…but he was forced to admit to having in fact met with the Russian ambassador twice: in July on the sidelines of the Republican convention, and in September in his office when he was a member of the Senate Armed Services committee.
In an attempt to satisfy those who rightly believe sessions committed perjury, he recused himself from all investigations regarding Trump’s Russian ties.
But now, once again Sessions is trying to swallow his head because it turns out there was a third meeting with Kislyak that he omitted to share during the senate confirmation hearings. This one in April with Trump present. Will there be a fourth? Will Sessions finally be able to swallow his head? In any case, he really does need to resign.
