At six all I wanted was a puppy
At sixteen I dreamt about autonomy
from my parents
Beginning age eighteen I searched
for a boyfriend
who would give me chocolate
At twenty two the wish was
a job worth a champagne toast
By thirty
the time to shave both legs
during the same shower
without a baby crying
would have been a blessing
After children the luxury of
leisure travel was an impossible dream
By forty the goal was
spousal independence
This is when I stopped aging
Now true luxury would be
self reliant children
The perfect
British boyfriend
Health
To work less would give me
time with my puppy
