Justice Resumes in Sixteen Days

“The wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine.”

~some Ancient Greek philosopher
“Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels.”

Yesterday was International Women’s Day. As such, I offer you the above quote, by former Democratic Texas Governor Ann Richards.

March 25, 2024, is a big day. Yes, I realize you already know, it is ‘National Brown-Bag-It Day,’ ‘Towel Day,’ ‘World Fish Migration Day,’ a favorite, ‘National Wine Day,’ and my most cherished, ‘National Tap Dance Day.’ I need to find my tap shoes. I’ve omitted some darker remembrances, like ‘National Waffle Day,’ ‘Pecan Day,’ etc., because one can only celebrate so much. Sipping wine while hoofing it (with a cap on the cup because I wouldn’t want to slip on spilled liquid) is about all the joy I merit.

If only there was a ‘National Read the Room Day,’ perhaps the man ranked as the worst US president in history, would not think he could win a reelection over President Biden who came in at 14th greatest. There is a celebration for everything, so maybe there is. Alas, if there is such a holiday, it does not fall on March 25th. It will be a busy time for Donald Trump as well, but not as fun.

But, March 25th is the deadline for Trump to put up ($355 million) or have his assets seized for the fraud lawsuit verdict in the civil trial brought against him by Letitia James on behalf of the State of New York.

A single appeals court judge turned down his first request, but Mr. Trump has filed again, this time before a full panel of five appellate court judges. For the appeal to proceed, he, or someone he has put the screws to, needs to post a bond for the entire amount by…

March 25!

March 25 is also the opening day of the first criminal trial for a former president. To use his words, “it will be wild.” You guessed it! It is they will try Donald Trump in Manhattan, New York. Judge Juan M. Merchan just ruled that the jury will remain anonymous to avoid all Trump’s usual tactics: bribery, tampering, or threat of physical injury or harassment.

Juror names will be protected, and the judge has warned Trump of a looming gag order should he cross the line.

In less than ten minutes, Judge Merchan denied Trump’s request to dismiss the 34 felony count indictment, including falsifying business records related to hush-money payments, made to porn star Stormy Daniels in the closing days of the 2016.

Bleh- (sorry, not my thing) Here is the recipe I found online.

My prediction, Trump will start the day with a nod to waffles topped with pecans, and a few tears.

    1. This is so messed up. He harasses the prosecutors and judges; of course they’re going to get harassed. Nothing ever goes the way it should with him.
