Alabama Ignores SCOTUS Ruling

Mind-boggling

Alabama Republicans defied a Supreme Court order on Friday when local government produced another gerrymandered map; the new congressional plan includes only one majority-Black district.

Despite evidence of the last year showing extreme ideologies of our current Supreme Court, the borders they created had two districts where Black voters make up voting-age majorities.

This is how the minority retains power in the House of Representatives. Me thinks this is election tampering.

Despite that, the SCOTUS created boundaries in “Bama” were more reasonable than those the state drew.

This provision makes it a crime for someone acting under color of law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States. It is not necessary that the offense be motivated by racial bias or by any other animus.

18 U.S.C. § 242

Let’s pretend for a minute that we have three co-equal branches of government on the federal level, of which the Supreme Court is not compromised. Following the Supreme Court’s order, which established districts that were fair, Alabama state politicians officials whose drive for self-preservation through the disenfranchisement of the black community ignored a Supreme Court ruling.

Fact: If a state defies a federal law, the executive branch is authorized to send in troops to enforce the decision.

The only legal way to override the SCOTUS is to amend the constitution of the United States.

So, we’re just waiting for the military to arrive in Alabama, giving power of the state to the federal government… or not.

Ohio did the same last month, and there were no consequences. That set a precedent for all other states to follow suit.

How? They waited until previous court rulings stated it was too late to change borders.

I don’t think I need to remind you that this Supreme Court has an agenda that seeks to consolidate power in the hands of rich white men. They’ve ended programs that level the playing field for people of color, women, and all marginalized groups. Their attack on women’s bodily autonomy has had the desired effect of subjugation. The SCOTUS goal is in line with the dark money group that hatched them, the federalist society, granting the top 1% unrestrained authority to exploit and undermine workers, keeping them overworked and underpaid, and undermining the creation of new labor unions.

I would not describe myself as a conspiracy theorist. Full disclosure — I also don’t identify as a baby boomer, despite what some generational charts say are the boomer years. With that in mind, take this as you will:

I am inclined to believe that the events listed above resulted from a plot. It is plausible that certain (six) far-right members of the Supreme Court, desiring to maintain an appearance of impartiality, may have conspired with, planned, or advised local governments to delay their actions until the eleventh hour and override the disingenuous efforts made by the SCOTUS.

This is the part of my post where I contemplate and decry impending doom and gloom.

We find ourselves at a dangerous crossroads. My friends, desperate men resort to drastic measures when their authority is in peril. These guys, with legitimate apprehensions about the future of their party, (too bad) are undermining our democracy through any available means.

  • Kentucky’s US Senator Rand Paul has a blanket block on State Dept nominees.
  • Alabama’s Tommy Turberville is blocking 265 military promotions, leaving the Marines without a leader for the first time in 164 yrs.
  • JD Vance vows to stop all DOJ appointments to protest Jack Smith.

The current occupants of the Republican Party are legislative terrorists who would trade our democracy for an autocracy if allowed.

The first amendment protects free speech, but don’t criticize this guy.

The rulings made by the Supreme Court over the past 13 months have reversed decades of civil rights achievements. Why can’t Democrats do what Republicans are doing, say-we will not listen to the Supreme Court either!

ABORTIONS AND STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS ALL AROUND!

I’ll tell you why, it’s because the world is not fair. There is no equality. We only had an illusion of it for a time. As far back as the history books take us, there have been two groups-the ruling class and the working class, the haves and the have-nots, doms and subs, and that, it seems, will never change.

Dog sitting, sitting dog. Here I am enjoying the good life on Sunday, the night before my neck surgery.

  1. Aaaaaand she’s back! Let’s not forget about the little big man here in Florida–DeSantis. He wants executive privilege to block everything so we, the little peons who choose to live here, are kept in the dark about everything he’s doing. He and Wal-Mart Melania live in their own little world.

    1. DeSantis is literally a bad actor. People see him for what he is. IMO, his political career will end with his next election- if he allows an election.
He shouldn’t have messed with the mouse.

      1. You’re right. His ratings are bottoming out and either he doesn’t see it or doesn’t want to see it. He is everyone’s bad joke.
        How are you doing?

      2. Meh, I’m fine, wearing a neck brace, and not driving, bending or lifting my 7 lbs dog. My hospital stay was ridiculous, the alarm on my bed was overkill. Freedom to pee without a guard is something I’ll never take for granted again.
My lifestyle of perpetual patient has become redundant.
        Thank you for asking!
