Drunks With Guns Who Gamble

I don’t know about you, but I believe rewards should come from good deeds or hard work, not doing what you’re supposed to do. I may be hard to impress, but I wouldn’t reward a child for not stabbing someone. Hey, no murders, let’s get ice cream!

It is safe to say that most Americans have had the opportunity to be vaccinated for COVID-19. We should all be educated on the spread of the disease that killed 600,000 Americans. What isn’t getting enough attention is the after-effects for millions who survived the virus. Some survivors are so far so good, others have been left with disabilities like lung, heart, brain damage.

Despite the perilous risk, merely a fraction of the public has elected to be inoculated. 51% is not sufficient to achieve herd immunity. That will only occur when 70% have been immunized.

I believe the public restrictions we lived with for over a year, have been relaxed because of the success of deception more than a diminished risk. The offensive that started with Trump to diminish, deny, and lie about the pandemic didn’t end when he was voted out. The GOP crazy train, Fox “News,” and alternative propaganda peddlers not simply prolonged the high rate of infection, but they stigmatized the wearing of masks somehow likening it to an attack on civil liberty and freedom.

So, what now? The Center for Disease Control has buckled under public noise and relaxed restrictions on wearing masks and socializing, in most situations. It seems hasty to me, but who am I to trespass on civil liberties.

That’s unfortunate. But not taking precautions like social distancing, wearing masks, and getting vaccinated puts others at risk. Those “others” are most likely individuals who made the same choice, but there is a faction that cannot get vaccinated for genuine reasons like illness or allergies. You can’t force people to submit to the tracking chip. (joke)

To induce more of the population to become immunized, several incentives have popped up across the nation, and I think it’s bullshit wrong.

Have you seen the kinds of enticements that have been extended?

  • Lottery ticket giveaways

An Ohio woman won $1 million with the winning ticket she was given for getting vaccinated. Are you shitting me? I’d like some money. I was vaccinated.

  • Drawings for free guns.

West Virginia is not the only state appealing to Second Amendment enthusiasts Get a shot, take a shot, step right up for your Covid-19 Vaccine, and a chance to win a deadly weapon.

West Virginia To Give Away Guns As Covid-19 Vaccine Incentive

  • Free Beer

Fuck me. Now Anheuser-Busch has announced free alcohol to the nation’s adults who waited this long to get vaccinated…if they have a shot with their beer by July 04.

We are rewarding drunks with guns who gamble. All that’s missing are offers of drugs, tobacco, and prostitutes. Maybe that will be next week.

I’m punching out now. (Who is too young to understand that reference?)

  1. Cruisin’ for the next virus spike, that’s the new normal…

I left my room without my mask today. Took the elevator down to the lobby. Some one joined me in the elevator who looked like they just crawled out of a coffin. I sure did miss my mask.

    Spreaders ~ they’re everywhere. That’s you’re new normal!

    1. The irony of your elevator ride, considering the French word for elevator is ascenseur (as you know – pronounced ´saucer’,) makes me smile.🤓
I keep my mask with me and wear it when I feel the urge, in part to be incognito. It’s like an invisibility cloak.
I didn’t catch a cold or the flu the entire time I wore a mask so I think they still serve a purpose:
