Martyrdom and Motherhood

From conception I confess

I learned that pregnancy oppressed

All my habits heretofore

Extricated evermore

Blithe nymph inside me flew away

My name was changed to mom that day

A plaintiff requiem – a sometime Hell

Weighty burdens corked up well

Little does one comprehend

Fleeting childhood does soon end

Add distance geographically

The circle of life is misery

A quartered heart – a chest still tight

One needs some dark to see starlight
