An Aimless Ode to My Middle Child

This, your discontented summer

Post bunionectomy

Confined to sofa slothing

As you read philosophy

The foot cast you wear— a ball

Cursed crutches are your chain

Condemned imprisoned

Tally marking days you’ve been restrained

  1. Been there, done that twice.. There is life after bunionectomy.. It’s just that bunion is possibly one of the ugliest words in the English language and there is no glory in a bunionectomy.. It is reminiscent of old ladies with burst-out tennis shoes. True, I had my first one at 30. Thanks pointed toes and three inch heels!
