“Clowns are the pegs on which the circus is hung.” ~ P.T. Barnum
If life is a circus what’s now clear to me
Is that I am the clown, to an audience of three
I juggle, wire walk… precariously
I recall long lost days when life was carefree
From the teacher of trigonometry
Missed assignments add up to three
Same child- I must schedule an EKG
Only through an in network facility
Child 2-ignores her doctor of podiatry
Calls to confirm tomorrow-her surgery
Child 1, tests me incessantly
I stay calm, school beckons… hopefully
A stop: “I’ll take twenty”
Crickets to keep the lizard happy
Off to work for all that is monetary
I’ve become that clown who is mean and scary
