Effects

It starts—a desire for a roof overhead

Work a job to pay for a meal and a bed

Human nature dictates that we always want more

Effects we have now that we didn’t have before

Never enough—this need to acquire more things

A big house, pricey cars, diamond toe rings

Realisation that the true price for enough

Is to sacrifice living in exchange for stuff

Priorities change when people get old

You can’t take it with you, truth be told

Mores the pity to have amassed so much wealth

To find none of it matters when you don’t have your health
