Democratic National Convention Humpday

I’m exhausted, and too late to recap DNC events. My purpose is not to reiterate what you’ve, no doubt, already heard, but to share my gripe regarding network television. My quest to find the Democratic National Convention taught me that even though I can watch C-SPAN on my phone, I need my son’s help to view it on my television. Sad, I know. He wasn’t available. Another option, YouTube doesn’t provide you with access to shows until the day after unless you subscribe. That isn’t an option for me.

Being advanced for someone who grew up with a remote control that governed six channels, and was attached by a cord, I was quite proud to find the icon on my fire stick for “live-streaming.” As person who would rather read than watch, I’m ecstatic that I just used “live-stream and “fire stick” in a sentence. Cut me some slack.

I chose ABC live but found they had the convention on a split screen so you could see it, but you couldn’t hear it. I thought this was the ‘pregame show.’ They discussed the protests out in front of the United Center and how Biden/Harris needed to resolve the war in Gaza if they expected to win. They also mentioned Trump repeatedly. (Free advertising.) His “bump in polls” after (what they didn’t say was a stunt/staged) “the assassination attempt” angered me. They spoke about it as if it were real. Then they elaborated on the border crisis, and interviewed a migrant who Texas Governor Gregg Abbott had bussed to Chicago without notice. They did this in an accusatory tone. Democrats were the reason for problem, they implied by telling this story during the Democratic convention. Let’s remember the comprehensive bipartisan border reform bill was written and agreed to, but DonOld ordered his pawns in Congress to block it. He wants something to complain about and isn’t concerned with the consequences. ABC just delivered on his wish.

I was trying to watch the DNC. And because I’m slow, it wasn’t until 30-minutes after the convention had started that I realized the commentators were not going to shut up. Thanks “ABC Live!” I missed several speakers and the boys’ choir that brought people to tears.

I switched to NBC live, but they had the same format. A split screen with commentators deciding what I could listen to and what my opinion should be. I don’t appreciate the dumbed down remedial viewer treatment, or being subjected to cult affirmation television programming.

I am verklempt to say FOX (I know!) played the show without the propaganda.

Shout out to Jill Biden’s dress. She looked beautiful.

Yesterday I found the full convention on C-SPAN though YouTube and watched what I missed. This is the link:

DNC Night 1

If I had to give it a title, it would be:

Crazy Energy

This is all I’ll say. Kamala wore a tan suit.

Governor Tim Walz was fought back tears the entire night.

Our Next VP

Ashley Biden loves her dad. Joe Biden is selfless.

“Wall Street didn’t build America. The middle class built America. And unions built the middle class.” ~President Joe Biden

Biden passed the shades.

DNC Night 2 Title:

PARTAY!!

“Donald Trump fell asleep at his own trial and when he woke up, he made his own kind of history, the first person to run for president with 34 felony convictions.” ~Hillary Clinton

The same commentator split screen forced me to watch Fox again because they just played the convention.

“Roll-call” during any other convention is when you would draw a bubble bath and take a four-course meal break. Not so this year.

Jason Ray

Jason Ray, Secretary of the Democratic Convention, officiated while DJ Cassidy performed, playing music while each state answered Ray’s question:

“North Carolina, how do you cast your votes?”

DJ Cassidy

The upbeat loud music that changed nearly every state. Remember, the songs all needed agreements by the copyright holder to play. Cameo by Lil Jon.

(Trump doesn’t ask permission. He plays what he wants until he gets a cease and desist order. Then he may or may not stop.)

Once the delegate roll call was complete the giant screen went to Milwaukee where Harris and Walz were campaigning. The shot of two full arenas filled with motivated happy people was almost shocking.

Senator Bernie Sanders, Raphael Warnock, Representative Jamie Raskin, Governor Pritzker, and so many others spoke. I’ll quote a few, but first I want to point out that the Democratic Party is chock-full of extraordinary people.

“Who’s going to tell him the job he’s currently seeking might be one of those black jobs?” Michelle Obama

We cannot send Kamala and Tim to the White House alone. Together we must also elect strong democratic majorities in the House and in the Senate so we can deliver on an ambitious agenda for the people.”~Representative AOC

“The question is, will a vindictive, vile, villain, violate voters vision for a better America, or not?”~Representative Jasmine Crocket

Let’s go back to the beginning of this post. We have a problem with propaganda in this country, and the issue is that we don’t recognize it when we are on the receiving end. Every time I watch network television, I realize why Trump still has supporters. The media is biased. What is with the press? They have an agenda, and their motivation is greed.
