There could not be a more ironic moment than the week of a holiday centered around feasting from a bountiful table to consider stripping away sustenance from those in need. It seems those who have the most cannot be thankful for a meal unless they know others are hungry.
Republicans say they have to make tough choices, in cuts to government spending. They choose not to reinstate taxes on the rich. They will instead cut WIC is a federal subsidy program for which Congress allows a specific amount of funds each year.
Christo-fascist Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, the rich guy without a bank account, whose wealth exceeds $1 million, has shown us his cards.
After decimating reproductive rights, the time has come to tighten the pregnant woman’s belt. He wants to cut WIC, a decades old federal supplemental nutrition program that feeds:
- 53% of the children born in the U.S.,
- Pregnant women through and up to six weeks postpartum,
- Breastfeeding mothers,
- Children up to the age of 5.
The USDA notes WIC is not an entitlement program, as Congress does not set aside funds to allow every eligible individual to take part in the program. It is a grant program under the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Johnson, a devout fake Christian, whose pro-life stance is more about controlling women by taking away reproductive choices. He is a forced birther, who would take food from the mouths of the babies they force into the world. His GOP version of Christianity lacks basic human decency and simply caters to misogyny. He wants to make divorce illegal. He is afraid of the LGBTQ community, and who has said he wants to replace the constitution with the Bible, doesn’t understand either.
Johnson’s first priority is to protect the rich from taxation at the expense of the poor. He is a threat to our democracy.
WWJD? Not this.
The broader implications, they intend to extend cuts to other programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Republicans push to gut food aid program that helps feed half of all infants in US
Mike Johnson is a real piece of work, isn’t he?
