Apathetic News for Everyone

Detachment

Every day, I comb through news stories, hoping to find something that sparks my interest and compels me to share my thoughts. There are countless topics to choose from, but it often feels like a repetition of the same issues I’ve already made note of. It’s not boredom that I feel; rather, it’s a sense of fatigue from seeing things neglected for too long, leaving us in need of saving ourselves. Will we ever exert the effort?

SCOTUS:

These assholes.

The Supreme Court rulings have been reversing decades of progress for women, minorities, and all marginalized groups. They aim to dismantle any threat to the power enjoyed by affluent white men. Last year, Roe v. Wade, which protected abortion rights, was overturned. Wealthy donors who manage the Supreme Court haven’t finished their assault on women’s bodily autonomy. Now they’re targeting birth control, aiming to force population expansion.

Kavanaugh got into Yale via the legacy program. Thomas got into Yale thanks to affirmative action.

Yesterday, with a 6-3 majority, they ended affirmative action, a critical equalizer for women as well other demographics. Legacy admissions remain unaffected, preserving affirmative action for the privileged.

In another 6-3 vote, they struck down President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan. It raises the question: Does only the rich deserve an education? These rulings, combined with yesterday’s decision, favor the elitists.

Also today, a SCOTUS ruled against the LGBTQ community, allowing businesses to discriminate by refusing patrons based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Supreme Court’s agenda, by their rulings, is to oppress marginalized communities. We can make this group of six irrelevant by expanding the court. In 1869, Congress linked the number of Supreme Court justices with the amount of Circuit Courts, 9 each. Now we have 13 Circuit Courts. We need a majority vote in Congress to make this happen.

Russia:

The “fallout” after the attempted coup last week in Russia has begun.

Moving on…

CAPS LOCK RAGE

Daily leaks of damning audio tapes—Trump brings classified documents to show and tell. He is a stupid, evil man. The leaks are coming from him. They may be an attempt to desensitize us to his crimes and reduce the shock value before he faces a jury. Whatever his plan, he will not outsmart Jack Smith.

Climate Crisis:

The climate has forced us indoors – the smoke from Canada that has blanketed the New York sky, turning it orange and has spread gloom so far southwest that it chokes Midwestern states.

The heat in southern states killing people. Governor Greg Abbott has told Texans to turn their air conditioning to 84, to take pressure off the power grid he refuses to replace.

Protect your pup’s paws.

I want to say this – consider your dogs’ wellbeing. They shouldn’t be outside exposed to smoke or extreme weather any more than you should.

If the pavement is too hot for you to walk on barefoot, it’s too hot for them.

France:

While Macron enjoys an Elton John concert in Paris, riots rage and France burns. Let them toast marshmallows.

This reminds me of a term I heard, Paris Syndrome: a sense of extreme disappointment exhibited by some individuals when visiting Paris, who feel that the city was not what they had expected.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_syndrome

I visited several years ago and fell in love. The visit prompted me to learn the language, as well as I could, on audiobooks while driving my car. I realize I’ve romanticized Paris so much that my memories have merged with fantasy. I will be disappointed if I can ever go back.

Me:

More titanium, please.

On a personal note, last week, after loading up on Xanax to counteract my claustrophobia, I had another MRI. The results validated my complaints, and I’m scheduled for a third spinal fusion in mid-July. Being a patient has lost its novelty.

Nothing mentioned is really new on any front.

  1. I don’t know if you are familiar with the YouTube channel Beau of the Fifth Column or not. But last week, right before DJT’s legal team got access to discovery, he made a video where he pointed out that while the DOJ had all of the information there had been no leaks.

    1. I’m not familiar with that channelI’ll have look for it. I agree with that statement.
Yep, I think (hope) this is part of Jack Smith’s plan to give Trump plenty of rope to hang himself.
