The Senate Goes to the Beach

Enjoy your summer, Senator. Congress works an average of 130-140 days per year. We pay them an annual salary of $174k, and that doesn’t include insider trading or bribes from lobbyists.
They get a benefits package that includes: lifetime healthcare, dental, vision, and a nice retirement pension. Off to the beach, thanks for your efforts.

Trump’s Project 2025 Budget has passed its final hurdle, so Congress can enjoy their summer break.

The rich win again. People will die.

J.D. Vance Broke the Tie

Voters will see:

  • Am increase the federal deficit by an estimated $4 trillion.
  • Increase annual mortgage interest by an average of $1,060.
  • Those with incomes exceeding $4,325,000 receive an average tax-cut of nearly $390,000.
  • More than $900 billion will be cut from Medicaid.
  • 17 million Americans will lose their healthcare.
  • Small businesses will now pay, on average, an additional $860 in interest on their loans.
  • 300 rural hospitals will close.
  • 500 nursing homes will close.
  • 2.9 million Americans will lose food assitance.
  • Clean energy tax credits are over.
  • Energy bills will increase by up to $400 per year for families and 10% for businesses.
  • Nearly 400,000 jobs at risk.

For the racists who think this is a win against illegals:

  • No illegal immigrants receive food assistance.
  • No illegal immigrants are on Medicare or Medicaid.
  • No illegal immigrants vote.

The rest of us will.

Republicans flooded the media, pressing their point that they only want “able bodied Americans to work 20 hours per week” in order to qualify for Medicaid.

They are implying that people are on Medicaid by choice, food assistance because they’re lazy. Their message was repetitive and they were unified. Lies have larger reach than the truth these days.

Federal data shows:

  • 64% of Medicaid adults worked full or part time
  • 12% were caring for dependents,
  • 10% were disabled or in poor health,
  • 7 percent were in school.
  • Just 8% were not working or unable to find work.

As always, Lisa Murkowski gave us false hope.

*Update: The Senate made changes to the bill before passing it, which sent it back to the House for another vote. With an eight-seat Republican advantage there, this fight is effectively over.

      1. JD had to break the tie. If the GOP who are not in favor would just stay that way… These votes are way too close. I hope all the MAGAts are happy with who they elected.
