What just happened?
Four republican lawmakers, Victoria Spartz of Indiana, Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Warren Davidson of Ohio and Thomas Massie of Kentucky, declared their intention to vote no on Trump’s budget. The bill The sets up massive cuts to Medicaid, food assistance, and education to fund another tax cut for billionaires and corporations. The rich get so much that this plan adds $4 trillion to the national debt.
Breakdown of Congress per party:
218 Republicans / 215 Democrats
Those four no votes gave us 214 Republican yes/ Democrats and 4 GOP 219 no votes, it would kill the bill.
Not so fast. Knowing they didn’t have enough yes votes to win, they cancelled the vote.
Then less than an hour later, there was news.
Update: in an abrupt reversal, the House is now voting on the budget. Confused lawmakers trickling back in. Republicans prayed. No, I am not kidding.
BREAKING: Those godly House Republicans passed their budget resolution.

Medicaid covers: 21% of Americans. Who are they?
83 million low-income Americans
- 4 in 10 children
- 1 in 4 adults with disabilities
- 50% of kids with special needs
- 41% of births nationwide
- 5 in 8 nursing home residents
- 32% of people in Republican Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson’s, home state.
Let’s stop calling the GOP “pro-life,” and call them what they are. Men who want to control women.
What happened in that hour to flip the four republican hold outs? I’m guessing threats and bribes.
These are Members of Congress up for reelection who voted for to pass this cruel budget:
GOP = Good Ole Perverts.

This administration, if you can call it that, is a runaway train.

Are you aware of the movement to not spend any money on the 28th in protest? Here is a blog post about it: https://annieasksyou.com/2025/02/25/an-easy-way-to-protest-dont-buy-anything-on-friday-february-28-with-an-addendum-about-ukraine/.
I think this is brilliant: US$ is the only language the GOP understands.

Yes, thanks for the reminder! I read about this but just realized it’s this Friday! The month is flying by. I’ll spread the word.

It is horrible. They have the numbers in Congress and all three branches, so they are plundering it all.

Do the people who voted for Trump realize what this bill does? I think Trump just got his Magats so anti-anything to do with Biden that they have no idea how his 4 years in office will impact them. This is a shame.

I don’t think they’ll understand what happened until their food card is rejected at the grocery store, or when their bank start charging them overdraft fees, because their auto-pay bills don’t go through. A couple of weeks ago Trump reversed Biden’s limit on what banks can charge on overdraft fees, so the timing is unfortunate.
This is proof (we already had enough proof) that when republicans control three branches of government the people lose.
Trump’s supporters will probably blame Biden and those who can’t be bothered to vote will just complain about the system being rigged against them.
The rich and big corporations have won again. Healthcare is for the elite. Even “good insurance” funded by employees & their employers isn’t worth the plastic the card it’s stamped on.
I’m angry.

And Zelenskyy is going to meet and accept some sort of deal with Trump?! I just don’t understand how all of this is even happening. Totally mind boggled.

Zelenskyy is being extorted for half the country’s mineral rights. Musk had threatened to turn off Starlink and the Ukrainians can’t protect itself without internet. The problem is that Trump isn’t good for his word and Musk will turn it off anyway. They work for Putin.
