Happy Halloween to everyone celebrating! This year, I’m feeling a bit more anxious than usual, and it’s not because of the hotdogs and penguins ringing my doorbell—it’s the thought of what might come if Trump wins on Tuesday. Counting ballots could stretch into Wednesday, or even longer.
If you’ve heard about blazing ballot boxes, purged voter rolls, and intimidation outside polling stations, know that these actions are meant to discourage you from voting. If we all exercise that right, they can’t win. The orchestrated chaos we’re seeing will likely escalate. I’m sharing this to urge you to vote as soon as possible. If you find they have wrongfully purged you, you can resolve the problem if you vote early enough. And report any harassment.
If you have a mail-in ballot, it’s too late for Post Master General, Louis DeJoy, to guarantee delivery before Election Day. Take it into a polling station. And, please verify you are depositing your ballots in the correct place. Don’t give it to some rando.
You may think I’m stating the obvious, but my library has a drive up book drop box. It now has a note:
“DO NOT DROP YOUR BALLOTS HERE.”
A nearby UPS drop box has been locked and marked as out of service, with a similar sign taped to it. I think we have lost our collective minds and critical thinking skills.
Anyway, we, the majority, cannot sit this one out. If we stay in our little bubbles where nothing exists but work, children’s after-school activities, family obligations, etc. and haven’t paid attention to politics, just know our democracy is fragile and Trump means to destroy it. If he wins, we’ll find ourselves in a different world come January. They’re coming for women first.

If you obsess on this updated map, as I do, I’m here to give you your hope back. The NBC chart is meaningless because people are not voting according to their party affiliation.
The numbers don’t line up because registered Republicans are voting for Democrats.
We need every vote. We can win, (if we all vote.) Vote today!
