With Harris and Walz, Democrats Have the Winning Ticket

The DNC “bump” results are in. Kamala Harris has a 7-point lead over Donald Trump in new national poll.

I did my part, watching all four long nights of the Democratic National Convention. Yes, anyone in the vicinity of my house may have heard me whining, “THIS IS TORTURE” or “Oh, my God! Are we there yet?” It was a lot. My brain is awash with words. By day three, it was all a blur. Listening to the wide range of speakers, all excellent orators, talk for hours *4, has affected my own ability to speak. I am left in a fog and can no longer form complete sentences. And I only recall the week’s highlights: Hillary and the Obamas, the music, and the humor.

Two sleeper agents failed to couch the sofa references on night four:

The party atmosphere raged on.

Whoever’s idea it was to have DJs maintain the party atmosphere throughout the week was a genius. To engage the newest voters, the offer of ‘social proof’ will pay off.

Governor / Coach Tim Walz Accepts Democratic Nomination for Vice President

Vice President Kamala Harris Accepts Democratic Nomination

Trump is beside himself at the success of the DNC. He can’t stage another assassination attempt to take back the focus, but he thinks garnering RFK Jr’s endorsement might do the trick.

RFK Jr, the perennial conspiracy theorist and recent defector to Trump’s camp, dropped out of the contest so he could spend more time embarrassing his family. His withdrawal comes too late for many states to remove his name from the race. Bummer.

Ballots are already being printed in Nevada and North Carolina. NC lists him in the “Working Families Party” category on the slate. That group would have to request his removal, but if they do, it could harm their future access in the state. To stop printing in any state would require a court order. The litigious 45 wouldn’t see that as an obstacle. However, with mail-in ballots going out in North Carolina on September 6th, so the clock is ticking. His name will remain in Michigan as the Natural Law Party candidate. 

Trump is sending out another call to arms, like he did leading up to 1/6, 2021. We saw what happened. Will it be handled better this time? U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson, Chair of the 1/6 Select Committee, says:

“We’ve fixed some things since Jan. 6, 2021. We’ve plused up the budget, we’ve secured the Capitol, we’ve interfaced how we gather intelligence from all those agencies, FBI, state police, park police, DC police, Capitol police. Believe it or not, they’re finally sharing information.”
