Yes, I’ve become annoying.
Kamala Harris has secured enough delegates and is our presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee. Exhale.
“Team Harris raised more than $100 million between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening.” ~Harris Campaign
Exhale.
The money has come from over (62%) “first time donors.”
The excitement is palpable. By Sunday afternoon, 58,000 volunteers have signed on to canvass for Kamala.

An unmistakable reminder of the differences between these two parties:
- Trump directed a violent mob toward his Pence, so he needed a new VP. / President Biden endorsed his VP for President.
- The RNC had five of 45 members of Trump’s staff. 40 do not support him. / Kamala has the entire DNC behind her.
- Trump is a felon. / Kamala is a prosecutor.
- Trump will make stripping women of their rights a priority. / Kamala will work to restore our rights.
- Trump will add to the right-wing faction of the SCOTUS. / Kamala will expand the court.
Kamala Harris will choose her Vice President by next mid-week. I don’t care who she selects, but let’s play.
The 12th amendment says the President and Vice President can’t be from the same state.
- That eliminates Newsom and Swalwell.
It’s realistic to presume it will not be another woman because, baby steps.
- Filtering out women who have been subjects of conjecture, scratch Amy Klobuchar, Gretchen Whitmer, Elizabeth Warren, and Cori Bush.
I suppose it’s safe to guess another person of color will not be chosen to run on this ticket for the same reason, baby steps:
- Eliminating Jim Clyburn, and Cori Bush (for a second time.)
No one from a blue state will be selected because that would be a missed strategic maneuver.
- Pritzker and Coons, out.
I’m not sure why the following three have not been mentioned much:
- Beto– TX white guy red state- but he may have too much baggage, too many unsuccessful campaigns.✅?
- Joaquin Castro– TX Hispanic red state. Not really in the political forefront lately. ✅?
- Buttigieg -IN (11 EC votes) has been working the crowd on Fox News since he ran for POTUS educating and winning approval- but is that enough for the anti-LGBTQ GOP? Is being gay the political liability it was 20 years ago? There are a lot of closeted republicans who must think so. Pete hails from a Red state. ✅? (I’d choose Pete.)
We are left with the four straight white men from red or swing states. What do they call it when success can be attributed to special treatment because of gender and skin color?
- Josh Shapiro– Pennsylvania (20 electoral votes) Governor former attorney general, white man, swing state / leans blue. ✅✅
- Mark Kelley– AZ (11 electoral votes) Senator, Navy, Astronaut (huh) white man, swing state ✅✅
- Roy Cooper-North Carolina (15 electoral votes) Governor former attorney general, white man, red / swing state ✅✅
- Andy Beshear – Kentucky (8 electoral votes) Representative, former attorney general, white man, red state ✅✅
If that choice based on strategy is simple. Josh Shapiro wins with his states 20 electoral votes. It’s not a guarantee to win them, but the odds are forever in our favor.
These are guesses and if you read my blog you know I’m most often wrong. 😏
I think you’ll agree, watching Donald Trump and JD Vance lose to a woman will be spectacular. Let’s make the margin of loss as wide as the wealth gap the GOP exacerbated.
In conclusion, I think we can win, but I’m not convinced the Heritage Foundation will not take the change in candidates up with the courts.
George Clooney still sucks.

The old fat man is losing it. His ‘pole’ numbers are slipping, and he needs to start all over again. Meanwhile…Go, Kamala!!!!!

Had he known she’d be the candidate, he wouldn’t have wasted his RNC publicity bashing Biden. Pretty funny. I don’t think they know what hit them.
Let’s go, Kamala!!!!

Howdy Lydia!
Your thoughts on Harris’ VP mirror my own, except I think Shapiro and Kelly are from states that Harris has a good shot at now. Cooper could deliver NC. First time since Obama won it. That makes the most sense to me.
Kelly makes for good TV and a higher profile. Shapiro has lots of Trump experience and a slightly higher profile than Cooper. But, Cooper is liked in NC and could bring the state.

Hello Jack!
Yes, this is a fluid situation, and the blue wave is billowing.
I knew nothing about Guvnah Cooper a week ago, but I like him. Apparently, he and Kamala have been friends since both were state attorneys general; that can’t hurt. NC works strategically as you said. (That damn electoral college.)
I just read BetOnline has Shapiro at just under 2–1 odds, while Cooper and Kelly are tied at 3-1. The article doesn’t mention Beshear.
This is a fun game and we only have a week to enjoy it. 🥳 That’s for the best.
Thanks for the follow!

Beshear was never going to be the guy. I heard that they sent Tim Walz of Minn vetting material, but I can’t see it.
Looking forward to the discussions… and the predictions game.

Since Kamala picked up the baton, it seems every eligible politician, including Walz, is on a press campaign. Yes, it is about supporting and unifying the party, but they are vying for the VP position. This includes (the excellent) Governor Pritzker of Illinois. Does a bluer state exist? So what is he doing? Did he not see my list of rules? They’re vetting him, too.

I heard him say on one of the talking-head shows that he hadn’t received a vetting package… at least not at the time of vetting.
Walz is the head of the Democratic governors association group.
One of the smartest things I’ve heard anyone say about choosing your VP is that you have to have chemistry and a common approach to governance. We can look at the successful VPs and see that is true Biden-Harris, Obama-Biden, Clinton-Gore. We can look at the unsuccessful ones and see that is also true, Trump-Pence, W-Cheney, Poppy-Quayle.
Since Johnson stuffed ballot boxes for Kennedy in Texas, VPs rarely deliver voters, regions, or states. Given the popularity of Cooper, Shapiro, and Kelly in their states, they just might be able to make a difference there. Will Bashear appeal to anyone outside of Kentucky, working class blue-collar vibe or not? I don’t think so? Will he ensure a Harris victory in WV? Probably not. Will WV paltry EV total make a difference even if he did? Probably not. Unless there is a compelling chemistry there and he is a helluva campaigner, I can’t see him being the choice.

Spot on about Texas. I’m kind of leaning towards Kelly or Shapiro and just itching to hear the pick!

My brain tells me Shapiro; my heart, Cooper. Kelly tugs hard at my heartstrings because astronaut — can you ever go wrong with an astronaut? — twin, and Gabby. God, what the man could bring to the ticket.

The more I hear Cooper speak, the more I like him. She can’t go wrong; they’re all great choices.

Yeah. I think that’s right. The intriguing thing is that both Shapiro and Cooper both seem to have the ability to deliver their states given their personal popularity there. The question is, which is she in greater peril of losing.
To me it is difficult to believe that Pennsylvania with the population centers of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh would not be a shoe-in for Dems, but history teaches otherwise. Also, given the recent success of Dems there, and the perhaps maybe continued popularity of John Fetterman, that she would have great surrogates there to help her carry the state.
People wail and gnash their teeth about Arizona, but Kari Lake and other MAGA-stop-the-steal Republicans have so soured the brand there that I have difficulty believing that she shouldn’t cruise to a victory there. With a popular governor and senator in Kelly and the very likely victorious run of Gallego, they won’t be able to deliver Arizona.
Also, there’s the intangible in the relationship that already exists between Harris and Cooper. They got to know each other as states attorneys general. So, there’s that, too.
