It was the best of crimes; it was the worst of crimes.
1. Proud Boy, Dominic Pezzola
Dominic Pezzola was near tears during his sentencing hearing. He asked for mercy, assuring the (Trump appointed) judge he “was done with politics.” He said he was an “aloof, angry” guy who would pick fights with anyone.
Pezzola could have had a promising future as a Sasquatch impersonator, but threw it away on 1/6
After all the weeping, begging, and saying words he thought would matter, a decision was made. On Friday, Judge Timothy Kelly handed Pezzola a sentence of 10-years, half of what prosecutors sought. By comparison to other high-ranking members of both Proud Boys and Oath-keepers gangs, that was a lenient sentence.
The judge stood and departed the courtroom. When the door behind him closed, the defendant, Dominic Pezzola raised his fist and shouted, “Trump won!”
Trump appointed Judge, Timothy Kelly
Judge Kelly must have been told of the outburst in the courtroom. He could revise the sentence if he wanted to. But, you know, Trump appointed him.
Fool me once, Judge Kelly may have remembered Pezzola’s words when sentencing Ethan Nordean later that day.
Perhaps Pezzola and Nordean will meet again someday and discuss their behavior during sentencing and the timing of each.
The longest sentences so far in the approx. 1100 Jan 6 criminal cases:
18-years: OathKeepers founder & seditious conspiracy defendant Elmer Stewart Rhodes
17-years: Proud Boys seditious conspiracy defendant Joe Biggs
The Feds are recommending a 33-year sentence for Enrique Tarrio. His sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
Onto my second target.
2. Proud Boy Joe Biggs
who, as listed above, was sentenced to 17-years. After his sentencing, he called in to Alex Jones’s Info Wars show to complain about the sentence.
Joe Biggs doesn’t like prison food.
He shared his hope for Trump to win the election in 2024: “I know he’ll pardon me. I believe that with all my heart.”
Biggs went on to complain about the quality of prison food. He asked people to send money to help support his family because the government took away his military pension as part of his sentence.
The nerve of the government that he tried to overthrow to withdraw his pension. [eye roll]
Stupid and entitled are not a rare combination, but in these cases, the balance has been perfected.
“Two things are infinite; the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.”

Pezzola did not disappoint: “I’ll be good! I’ll be good!….Dammit! No, I won’t.”
See you in the courtroom on Wednesday!
Thank you, Lydia. I am way up in NW FL–the Panhandle. Idalia struck east of me, so my area received nothing but some storm surge. Three more months and hurricane season is gone! 🥳
