Good morning everyone. This is an update to yesterday’s post.
The MAGA-aligned skinhead and suspected shooter, Vance Boetler, has been apprehended. He impersonated law enforcement to carry out what appear to be politically motivated murders — and managed to evade police for two days.
Minnesota Congressional party breakdown before the murders:
- Senate 67/67 tie
- House of Representatives 33 (R) 34 (D)
Boetler fatally shot Democratic State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband. He also attempted to kill Democratic State Senator John Hoffman and his wife—both survived. Had he succeeded, the balance of power in the Minnesota State Congress would have shifted. He had to know that. My question is: was he acting alone?

In a comment on my post yesterday, I mentioned seeing a video of Boetler doing his unhinged dance-preaching routine. I found the clip — it’s on Twitter. (Yeah, Twitter, Elon. Not sorry.)
His hit-list includes figures with ties to the abortion rights movement. Nothing says “pro-life” better than premeditated murder.
While two people died, two survived the politically motivated shooting in Minnesota.
State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, survived the murder attempt, despite being shot several times. She says: “We are incredibly lucky to be alive.”
