Okay, three post days never happen, but here we are. He buckled. UGH! The latest headlines read “Biden endorses Harris.”
“I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination…” ~Vice President Kamala Harris
The problem is this: Biden doesn’t get to decide. I’d love a President Harris, but she isn’t guaranteed even the VP position on the new ticket.
I have been saying, this course of action will anger voters who expected the nominee they elected to be the candidate. If Kamala is not the chosen successor, black women will feel alienated, but so will black men as will all women.
The Democratic National Convention is on August 19; however, the real deadline is August 7. We must have a candidate (and running mate) who has secured enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee by then to avoid legal battles in states like Ohio, Oklahoma, Montana, etc.
A new ticket must be chosen before then. I hope those people who pressured Biden to step down have a plan and have done due diligence because whomever they select will be attacked as relentlessly as Biden was. Trump has been preemptively attacking Harris. I love Kamala. She has my full support, but I’m not convinced she’ll be the nominee.
U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said last week that democratic higher ups were pressuring Biden to leave the race because they believed it was likely that he would not make it through four more years and they did not want Harris to be first in line. I hope AOC is wrong.
Another potential problem is that the Herritage Foundation and other right wing groups are ready to file lawsuits in swing states to prevent anyone but Biden from being on the Ballots. Their argument is that he was the elected nominee. This could end up in the hands of the Supreme Court. We know how that will play out.
The story linked below was written at the end of June and I now find it ominous. “If Biden were to abruptly leave the race, conservative groups have suggested they will file lawsuits around the country, potentially questioning the legality of the Democratic candidate’s name on the ballot.”

I will vote a straight democratic ticket, regardless of who the candidate is because Trump will destroy us. I hope everyone comes together in November.
This should have been done before the primaries. I hope we didn’t just hand Donald Trump the presidency.

The thing no one is talking about is that the new ticket won’t be on the ballot in some states at all, because of timing.That is why they were going to do an early roll call. This is what my husband calls a snake tangle. (Polite way to say cluster you know what that rhymes with duck). It is also the Heritage Foundation/Russian troll plan: a contested convention like the one that brought Nixon to power. How bleeping stupid can people be? Bad question since they seem to see that at as a challenge.

Dr Jill needed to step out of the way and let Biden make his own decision. I think maybe him getting Covid again played a factor in his decision to step down.

Yes, he is a great man. My worry is that this should have been decided before the primaries to avoid court interference.
