I Watched My Second Super Bowl in a Row, Ring Me! (Give Me One)

I’m an overachiever. My television was turned on three hours ahead of kickoff. I’ve learned that because of operator error, it doesn’t always work. I don’t practice. The decision to start early was a throwback to the days before my phone had a GPS. I gave myself a 30-minute “get lost cushion” every time I left home. It is a good thing I started when I did because this time, the antenna on my house decided CBS would black out. Every other local network was fine.

This is not my actual antenna. To preserve my antenna’s privacy, I used a stock photo.
Also, it’s cold outside.

In settings, I clicked on the icon and then did a full channel scan… after the third attempt; it worked. I’m billing myself for working on a Sunday.

Anyway, my mother, whose 90th birthday is 12 days away, was convinced we were being sabotaged by “someone” who didn’t want us to watch the game. Hmm.

“Mom, please calm down. We have three hours.”

Once I had it on, you know I couldn’t risk losing the station. So, I left it on mute. She said she couldn’t hear it.

“It’s on mute for my sanity. Kick off is not for three hours.”

“I can’t hear it. My hearing aid battery…”

Sound up. You know, when I was in my twenties, Super Bowl Sunday was a party day. How did I get here?

There were improvements in this year’s Super Bowl over the last: Unless I missed it, there was no Pat Tillman film, and award followed by the usual flyover. They must have studied my scathing post last year and pulled it. (I’m kidding; no one read it.) Who knows why ‘the man’ does anything.

Mother offered commentary on all she saw. She did not like Post Malone.

They could have found someone better.

He’s popular, mom.

She reiterated her comments throughout the song, as I repeated mine. I wanted to hear him play and sing his version of America the Beautiful. Instead, we discussed Post Malone’s icy $1.6 million grill. “He has bad teeth.” I’m not partial to that look either, but I didn’t engage, no need to add fuel to the discussion. She is not a fan of facial tattoos. Neither am I, but I would rather not have an endless debate about what someone else does to their body. My body, my choice? Not my business.

Alleged CIA operative who, according to MAGA conspiracies, dates Taylor Swift as part of a plot to help Biden win reelection.
He should shave.

Kelce- she hates his beard. I do too, but can we not?

“He looks like his brother with his beard like that.”

“He won’t shave until after the game because he’s superstitious.” I don’t think that’s true, but it made her happy.

Finally, kick off. Oh, my god, I’m bored! The first half of the game was torture. San Francisco played better than Kansas City. I think we went into halftime 10-3.

The rollerskating segment was my favorite part of halftime.

Halftime… it was as unoffensive as it was uninspiring. Maybe It was my overdose of television that doomed the entertainment for me. My mom liked the dancing. It was a good time to take my dogs out, which I appreciate.

Then we saw a political ad, DURING THE SUPER-BOWL, RFK Jr, who is running as an independent Presidential spoiler. “OH, HELL NO.” He took a vintage ad from JFK’s 1960 campaign and turned it into an RFK Jr ad, without permission.

I had a link for the ad here but thought about it and decided no free ads for RFK Jr. here.
RFK Jr. lies.
Let’s negate that ad with another Kennedy descendent.

The second half of the game picked up a bit. I could feel when SFO QB lost his confidence, just like I could see when Mahomes decided he wanted to win. The Chiefs played a much better game last week. They did not play this Super Bowl game well and won, thanks to strategic coaching.

VOTE

I will also add that unlike last year, the referees threw flags on both teams. It was fair. The Chiefs won in nail-biting overtime.

Ugh. Get a room. 😂 Joking. Let them be happy!

Taylor secured the Super Bowl win in her first season. You go gurl!
