That pointless job I took at twenty three
Set my life on a course that I didn’t foresee
If only I had never worked there at all
I might have stayed focused— eye on the ball
Perhaps I’d be wealthy and summer in Spain
Or desperate and begging for handouts on trains
Married with children or single with cats
Laying dead in a tunnel— half eaten by rats
A perfect do-over might work out well
On the other hand, life could be a living Hell
I am quite content with the bed I’ve made
We all have our problems, but I’d never trade

Lucky for us that it’s a moot point.

I had a job like that, and I’ve often wondered what my life would be now without it. Oh well. I’d still have been me, right? So probably pretty much the same 🙂 .
