“Life without dreams is like a bird with a broken wing – it can’t fly.” ~Dan Pena
We all need to find a reason to be happy. This has been mine:

I want to share this photo, the third nest, in as many months, built on the porch light next to my front door. My daughter captured the image as she entered, two days ago, before two giant robins attacked her. She is fine. Her hair was fluffed.
Robins lay three sets of eggs in a season. The male and female take turns guarding their progeny and hunting worms. Before the chicks fly the coop, the next nest is already under construction elsewhere. This should be the last if it is the same couple.
I didn’t know any of that after the first group flew the coop, so I cleaned the area and tossed the nest. They were thankful and began reconstruction on that same light fixture after the second group hatched. Had I left the old nest where it was, they would have rebuilt somewhere else. They don’t recycle.

From this window, I had a clear view of nest #2. I watched the two-week stage: building the nest to sitting on eggs. Then the fun part, two weeks from hatchling to departure. I worried when only one remained, afraid to take the leap. By morning, they had all flown the coop. I remember when mine left. [😢😭]

The first nest this year was also built next to my front door. To avoid confrontation, we used the back door for a month.
