Colbert and Free Speech

Free speech is a right we all share

We may joke of ‘president millionaire’

Don’t like what you hear

When a TV host says queer

Then don’t watch Steven Colbert

Your outrage might be better spent

On world damage we might prevent

Is it duplicitous

You don’t find unjust

Treason, healthcare, golf,—(taxes misspent)?

  1. A very interesting question, Lydia. Either they’ve not connected those dots, don’t know they exist in the first place, or just plain don’t care. Whatever the answer, since it’s still a free country, they may express their views no matter how heinous and/or baffling. I’m investing in waders and bigger shovel. 😉 xoxoM

  2. I am old enough to remember the Smothers brothers TV show. They had the audacity to question and criticize our involvement in Vietnam. They paid an unreasonable price for free speech. Others have paid a similar price including groups such as the Dixie Chicks. We all need to stand up and be counted in support of free speech. My advise to Mr. Colbert is a request. Please keep speaking up.

    Thanks for your post.
