Trump’s Immigration Hypocrisy

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

If you look in the dictionary for the word hypocrite you might just see a picture of Donald Trump. He has signed yet another executive order, this one blocking all immigration of refugees from entering the country.
Donald Trump’s own mother, Mary, was an immigrant from Scotland. She came over on a boat to Ellis Island New York in 1930, with fifty dollars to her name. Her occupation on two manifests was listed as “maid”.
His first wife Ivana, an immigrant born in Czechoslovakia, married a ski instructor in order to get a foreign passport to leave her communist country.
His current wife, an immigrant from Slovenia, who flew into New York’s Kennedy Airport in August 1996 on a visitor’s visa, worked in the US illegally through October of that year, before obtaining a work visa…taking jobs away from Americans.

Today, refugees who were in route to Kennedy Airport when Trump signed an executive order to immediately block refugees from entering the United States are detained by customs officials.
With the exception of Native Americans whose rights we continue to violate, we are a nation wholly comprised of immigrants. Our founding fathers were immigrants.

Donald Trump, you are a national embarrassment, and a disgrace.

Fight for liberty! In the seventeenth chapter of St Luke, it is written the kingdom of God is within man not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people, have the power – the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful – to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy – let us use that power – let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world – a decent world that will give men a chance to work – that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world – to do away with national barriers – to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason – a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness. Soldiers, in the name of democracy, let us unite! ” ~Charlie Chaplin, The Great Dictator

  1. Lydia,

I really don’t know what to think about what’s going on, so I am praying for our country, and for President Trump. I don’t know what is behind God’s purposes in this. So I’m doing as instructed praying for him. God can use anybody to bring about his purposes. There are some things that he supports that I agree with like bringing jobs back to America, non-support of abortion, even not trying to impose our way on other countries, but he is a most unusual presidential figure. Crowd size focus, really?
