We have been waiting for finalised numbers for the popular vote since the Presidential election on November 9th. They’re in, and offer no surprise:
Hillary Clinton- 65,844,594
Donald Trump- 62,979,616
Hillary’s lead- 2,864,978
This gives Hillary Clinton the third highest vote count in history, just behind Barack Obama in 2008, and 2012. Her numbers are just 71k shy of the 65,915,795 Obama won in 2012. Her 2.1% lead over her opponent ranks him among the bottom six in history for a “winner.”
But, we’ve learned the hard way that anything can happen in this bizarre altered world of republic democracy, where one vote from Wyoming is given the same valuation as 3.62 votes in California…an unequal advantage in the number of electors Wyoming is alloted per capita. Because of this, Hillary Clinton won 100 fewer electoral votes than the evil orange one, and unfortunately that is the number that counts.
But…hold onto your yellow combovers it’s going to be a bumpy ride. We have been waiting for today for another reason. Today is the day the members electoral college convene in their respective state capitals to cast their votes for the next president. Because nothing about this election has been typical, we can only hope the outcome of their vote will surprise us. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

The whole point that our founders were trying to prevent was very large populated areas from controlling the outcome for the entire country. The fact that Wyoming’s popular vote has more value than California’s is the exact reason we have the electoral college. This proves the system works.

It also gives electors the power to override it all and decide the presidency.
