Sibling Sociability

“You get to choose one superpower. Pick one of these, and explain your choice:

•the ability to speak and understand any language

•the ability to travel through time

•the ability to make any two people agree with each other”

Really, I’d accept any super power, but since I am only allowed one:

1) The ability to speak and understand any language…we can already communicate with anyone using gestures and facial expressions. For anyone who wants more, language is there for the learning—so I’ll pass on this one.

2) Time travel has been explored in many of my posts. While I could repeat myself on that subject yet again, I’ll spare you the tedium…except to say that if I could go back to 18th century Scotland and meet kilt clad warrior Jamie Frasier from the “Outlander” books— but not this time.

3) If ever there were a superpower that would be a game changer for parents of more than one teenager this would be it: the skill of instilling sociability among siblings. I would never presume to dictate other people’s behavior with the exception of own spawn. I could use this skill to squash skirmishes, and instill sympathy and support between my son and his sisters, and them with each other, putting a stop to selfishness, sparking generosity with their personal effects, and supply them each with a conscience which would impel them to return said objects in the same condition that they were borrow.
