Some may need to run four miles

Others drink a shake

Some must don the latest styles

Or start their day with cake

Some wake up to piss and moan

About the day that lies ahead

I wake up and look around

And confirm that I’m not dead

Once I’ve made that distinction

That I did infact avoid extinction

I get to start it all again

I record some thoughts on phone- not pen

I tell myself this could be the day

My luck will change in some small way

That’s the thought that is the glue

It hugs my heart and pulls me through

“What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us.”

Henry David Thoreau
